Yearbook 24

Description

About the SVA Yearbook Project

This project is supervised by experienced faculty but is 100% student-created, and is definitely NOT your parents’ Yearbook!

Every year a team of SVA’s best design students conceptualizes and designs a unique book for the school’s graduating class. The designers create custom typefaces, lettering, illustrations, and infographics and combine them with submitted student portraits. A social media campaign and video elements are included, making the “yearbook” a one-of-a-kind visual experience.

The Concept

This year’s book theme is “Breaking Boundaries.” The book breaks convention by being in a vertical format (think of a stenographer’s notebook with its vertical format where the pages flip upwards) and is delivered inside a tear-away cover where you literally have to break open the container via a pull-strip to reveal the actual book.

In addition to student portraits, 30% of the book’s pages further support the theme through expressive typographic treatments of a student survey, a creative manifesto, and multiple large display quotes.

This year’s book also features a student-designed, fully functional display typeface.

Other features include Deluxe printing details like a double-gatefold, Swiss binding, exposed and printed spine, and multiple spot colors. All aspects were student-managed and designed (with support from faculty to ensure precise production standards are met.)
