VKHUTEMAS.ACADEMY: Poster-series
Description
The cultural heritage of the Higher Artistic and Technical Studios (VKhUTEMAS, aka “Russian (or Soviet) Bauhaus”), laid the foundation for design in Russia and includes many innovations. In the 1920s students and professors of VKhUTEMAS boldly reshaped the art education system. Avant-garde and constructivism inspired the creation of revolutionary projects in architecture, industrial design, staged a visual revolution in book and poster design and, in general, changed one’s way of life.
To revive the original spirit and excellence of VKhUTEMAS we created a large-scale educational project VKHUTEMAS.ACADEMY - online workshops, repackaging and presenting the vast heritage of the Soviet workshops through new media formats - the way they would look today - in the era of webinars, long-reads, explainer videos, masterclasses and digital media. To promote the launch we released a series of posters inspired by the works and out-of-the-box thinking which revolutionized creative education in Russia 100 years ago.
