Description

Vitenskapsmuseet in Trondheim is one of Norway’s oldest scientific institutions, with roots dating back to the The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters in 1760. Since 1996, the museum has been part of NTNU, under the name NTNU Vitenskapsmuseet. The museum's exhibitions encompass natural and cultural-historical collections. The museum also conducts world-class research and manages an authentic collection that is truly unique. To celebrate this, we built the museum's new identity around a simple abbreviation of the name (VIMU). The concept is based on a direct visualization of the mission – Opening our incredible world. Inspired by the archives in the museum's basement, the letters VIMU open up and showcases elements, while creating a flexible layout system. The letters are inspired by old publications and the flare serifs from the institutions first seal.
