Visual identity for Selective Music
Description
Selective is a Norwegian music management agency. The founder was actively involved in the Vancouver punk scene in the 90s before moving to Norway and wanted an identity that could reflect this part of him. With this as a starting point we delved into the aesthetics and tropes that characterized North American punk culture.
Visual clichés from punk like cut-outs with the artist names lay the foundation for the visual expression, and by combining all the identity element as overlapping layers you create typographic textures that alludes to the rough playfulness associated with punk. This way the actual combination of the overlapping elements is actively used as a separate expression in itself, creating a distinct texture that is repeated across all brand touchpoints. The elements should be readable and functional, but deliberately push the boundaries in a way that embraces the punk mindset of not giving a shit.
