The Year of Language 2022

A series of 9 temporary typographic installations titled "language eruptions" were designed and built for the city of Weimar, home of classical poets of the last centuries, for the year of "Language" - a thematic program in 2022 at the Klassikstiftung Weimar, one of largest and most important cultural institutions in Germany, preserving and presenting museums, castles, parks, historical residencies, collections of art and literature. For the installations, poems by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe were spatially designed across an entire room in the historic Goethe museum. Various sculptural ensembles of 2 to 4 objects, quoting German poets like Schiller, Wieland, or Nietzsche, were placed in locations throughout the city. The quotes, all written in the last centuries, were selected by their importance, meaning and relations to nowadays' contemporary society and life, touching subjects like politics, language and human sensitivities. Visitors could follow the path of the installations in the city.
