The Glass Ceiling

Description

"The Glass Ceiling" compiles 40 different voices on the topic of discrimination against women in the labor markets of the OECD countries. Each type of voice (neutral facts, personal experience, quotes, statistics) is conveyed through its own visual language.

The design serves as a metaphor for local women’s situations: the better a country performs in terms of gender equality, the more space the voices take up and the more the traditional structures of the layout are broken down.

The texts come from newspaper articles and interviews. They are proven by statistics of „The Economist’s glass-ceiling index.“

The added poster visualizes my personal view of the issue and pays homage to April Greiman's "Does it make sense?" (Design Quarterly, 1986). She was a pioneer of feminist design.

By raising awareness and informing on the issue, women will gain equal opportunities over time.
