Tabrizi Jali
Description
This design represents the first type revival based on the early Persian Naskh types used by Iranian presses in the nineteenth century. It is the result of extensive research into the history of typefounding, combined with practical experimentation. The original metal type attributed to Zayn-ol-Abedin Tabrizi serves as the benchmark for Persian Naskh and Iranian typography. The objective is to reintroduce a genre-defining model that researchers, designers, and students can use as a valuable point of reference, similar to the influential Roman types created by master typefounders. This typeface adheres meticulously to the written form of the Naskh style, providing a wide range of contextual alternates, OpenType features, and precise kerning and dot positioning. It has been carefully crafted as a standard OpenType typeface, ensuring compatibility with online and design platforms, eliminating the need for plugins or additional software—a common requirement for Arabic typefaces that emulate the writing styles.
