Sakkal Saad Poster Arabic typeface

Description

Looking at the source material for the inspiration of this font – popular headlines calligraphy used in newspapers and posters in the Middle East during the 60-80s – one can immediately feel the impact of the letterforms. These letters are graphic, bold, thick. These letters have weight.

Our font conveys a similar bold, energetic, and expressive, vibrant spirit but we also aspired to improve the utility. To better meet diverse design requirements, we expanded the weight and proportions range. But instead of becoming bolder all around, the heavier weights increase in contrast along the baseline stroke. This provides a wider range of thickness from what is commonly seen in historical examples, increasing the font usability.

We also introduced many fine contemporary typographic details, both for visual appeal and to better harmonize with modern companion text fonts. We've also included options to allow a designer to further emphasize the bold and horizontal baseline.
