Rewi: Āta haere, kia tere

Description

Rewi: Āta haere, kia tere is a tribute to the late architect Rewi Thompson (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Raukawa), a visionary thinker who believed that great architecture is crafted through careful consideration of people and place. This book brings together a breathtaking range of his projects, from conceptual dreamscapes to one-of-a-kind homes. A key typographic aspect to the book is Rewi's very own handwriting which has been scanned from his extensive archive of sketchbooks and writings. His written name adorns the cover, screenprinted in fluro pink to reference his use of pink highlighter markers, which became somewhat of a signature for him among his architectural peers. Handwriting flows fluidly through the 450 page book, offering glimpses of the man himself, and creating a human juxtaposition to the gridded typesetting throughout.
