Paige Smythe Studio Branding

Description

I worked closely with Paige to hone in the aesthetic she felt would most closely define her work, without distracting from it. My goal while I drew the custom logotype was to ensure the letters felt warm and familiar yet steeped in originality — softly curved serifs and ligatures, extremely open counters and slight tilts all help achieve this. After discussing Paige's materials that she carefully selects for each piece including an array of fine papers, I drew a monogram of her initials inspired by the intertwining letters on wax seals and other paper ephemera. The monogram can stand on its own — its letterforms are distinctly different than those in the logotype, adding a layer of depth to the brand.
