Filter bubbles keep feeding non-stop streaming content based on big data. It leads to the illusion that we are the “center” of the world, making people less concerned about things outside their comfort zone. Algorithms seem to be the most efficient way of filtering information. But other than building connections based on big data, there should be other options. By introducing the geology function, I push people to think about what is there. People may notice the pattern of the songs showing up in certain areas and start asking why. “why people put these songs here?”. The questions lead to the opposite of self-centering.
Art(music), to me, is everything about being specific. Artist is inspired by real events, real people, real life, and so do listeners. The story is real, and the emotional reaction is real. Those real connections sometimes have been overwhelmed by the big data. I want to highlight the real connections, which is the key to breaking the filter bubbles.
