Klingspor Type Archive
Description
Klingspor Type Archive is an online platform of Klingspor Museum Offenbach, Germany, on which the holdings of the former type foundry Gebr. Klingspor are made digitally available. Our core concern with the project is to achieve extended accessibility to the internationally sought-after archive, as well as usability that is independent of prior or specialist knowledge, and additional contextualisation of the historical material by linking it to contemporary design projects and research work.
The design is based on visual experience and offers numerous possibilities for unintentional browsing, but also for targeted searching. In keeping with the foundry's work, the website's interface is rounded off by our font family designed especially for the digital archive. It includes four text styles, a set of icons and picks up elements of Rudolf Koch's Koch-Antiqua (from 1927).
The website will be officially launched in December 2022. It will be accessible at www.klingspor-type-archive.de by next week.
