Until publishing, 11,078 Palestinians have been killed in retaliatory attacks, including 4,506 children, 27,490 were injured. 21 hospitals have stopped working and there are problems with the delivery of food and water. The psychological consequences will be terrifying. Such an event marks generations.
International community failed with the response. This stain will remain, like the one in Srebrenica.
The motif is simple & direct, hence the building block (blood) must be presented authentically. I created 24 different motifs of bloody stain for all 24 pages. As I discovered through experimentation, blood has a specific color & viscosity that each of us recognizes. Fake blood was done from honey, wine & color. The shapes that blood takes when it falls on a surface are also recognisable. I pipetted drops of it from heights 40-60cm. The absorbency of newsprint is also specific, which is why I got enough unprinted bundles from Dnevnik.
