Dupincel

Description

A serif typeface family in three optical sizes, 6 weights and a total of 36 fonts – or variable.

This project began as a study on metal types, focusing on both design and production aspects. It draws inspiration from classics like Jenson's type for books in the 15th century.

In production, a feature typical of the era is revived: distinct designs for each size.

This feature adds flexibility to the family, making it work in various contexts, from the smallest text to the largest title.

The typeface is both a digital product and a tool for typographic education. All its advanced features, sophisticated design, historical foundations, and extra resources are intended to educate a non-initiated audience on typographic details, fostering a new passion for this art form.

This typeface is not intended to be a revival of any specific font, rather our own interpretation of a workhorse humanist typeface.
