Book Design in Joint Publishing (H.K.) (1948—2023)
Description
This is a book planned and co-authored by designers and editors, containing 75 years of design work and designer interviews from Joint Publishing Company(H.K.).
The design of this book is like unfolding a museum. In the layout of this book, books are displayed as exhibits, time is the clue to reading, and text is the annotation of design. The large black book shadow background in the upper part gives a sense of space as one walks into the exhibition room, while the background in the lower part changes from black to white, creating a transitional distinction and bringing into an active group space.
The layout of this book is constructed with a simple three column grid, basic lines, and rectangles. The three column grid system precisely corresponds to the "three"(“三”) in the name of Joint Publishing Company(H.K.), adding a romantic touch to the rational system.
