29 Words for 29 Letters
Description
An experimental typographic linguistic index, inspired by the process of working with two languages while building brand identities; We integrate and bridge cultures, languages and wildly different worlds in our work.
In this exercise, we chose one word we use in our daily lives in London for each letter of the Arabic alphabet. These words are sometimes design or type related, but we also included expressions, sounds and idioms, and sometimes words for concepts that do not exist in English.
We believe language defines culture, and creates the concepts within which this culture shapes itself; One word can define an idea, or a smell, or typographic feature, without it, the signified doesn’t exist.
The outcome of this experiment is a cascading page of shapes and forms, sometimes still and sometimes in motion.
