Marbla Variable Font
Description
Marbla is an experimental display typeface exploring the possibilities of variable fonts to change the mood and personality of a typeface. Starting with a clear, friendly regular style the letterforms can be modified via three different axes. Along the Inktrap axis, rounded inktraps are extended from slightly slanted forms to an extreme, creating new lettershapes. The Balloon axis allows to „inflate“ the letters. In contrast to a typical weight axis this option not only changes the stroke width but also rounds off the edges. To round the shapes even more the Curve axis bends the vertical lines, letting the letterforms appear more circular. The 8 dynamic and playful styles work great as display fonts in large sizes e.g. for poster design. The Regular style is very legible in small text sizes and therefore can be combined very well with the other variations. The focus is on exciting, expressive and unusual letterforms. The intensity of each effect can be continuously adjusted on the axes-sliders. The combination of the three axes creates countless possibilities of variation.
