Word Paintings

Description

Architreasures commission for custom art throughout four floors of an apartment building in Chicago. Carlton Terrace Apartments, originally built in the 1920s and acquired and renovated by Mercy Housing, provides safe, quality, low-income housing and affordable resident services for those in need. I worked with words and phrases chosen in collaboration with the residents and staff to create art suited to the space and residents. I experimented with legibility and crossing the line into abstraction for these designs, which were inspired by graffiti.
