36 Days of Type Cakes

Description

For this year’s 36 Days of Type, I challenged myself to blend my expertise in set styling with my passion for typography. I crafted and assembled four intricately designed foam cakes, employing vintage-inspired cake piping techniques. To complement my faux confections, I meticulously curated sets and selected props evocative of four distinct atmospheres. My goal was to take the viewer to specific time and place— a refined tea party, a nostalgic 70’s basement, an opulent 19th-century feast, and a classic midcentury diner. I photographed the scenes mostly in my backyard (It’s pretty DIY around here) and the result were these four photographs that I hope bring some joy and playfulness to each viewer’s day.
